…and more weddings…

this weekend I had the privilege of being a bridesmaid at the wedding of one of my closest friends. I met jamie in ninth grade, first day of school, first class of the day; we were automatically drawn to each other, possibly because we are both asian (birds of the same feather always flock together). whatever the reason for attraction, since then we’ve been the closest of friends: we shared a (pretty messy) locker in highschool; she (along with wins) would make frequent visits to kingston to see me during our university days; we had weekly coffee dates during the first year post-graduations; and we now daily instant message one another via work email. all these years, I’ve seen her grow and blossom: she, to my heart’s delight, came to know the Lord and also met this boy named kev, who loves to dance. my earliest memories of kev are of him wearing my pink “girl power” PJs and dancing to justin timberlake. despite that image, I still hold him to the highest regard because of his love for Jamie. they are good together and their marriage makes my heart swell.

their wedding was quite an amusing affair, namely because of kev’s dance routine at the reception. it is difficult to put words to the performance, but for those who have my sister on facebook, go watch videos of it. kev looked very charming in a white tuxedo coat- daniel was extremely jealous because I had denied him the opportunity to wear white at our own wedding. jamie- tall and slender jamie- was ravishing, of course, and finished off the evening in a blue ballgown that was reminiscent of cinderella’s. the night ended early for yours truly because of a bottomless glass of champagne, hidden bottles of champagne underneath the head table, and one too many tables to toast to. daniel had to take my glass away and drag a glazed-overly-rosy me to the car and into bed- all before midnight.

my two highschool bestfriends, who were both bridesmaids at my wedding and both for whom I was a bridesmaid, are now married. now it’s time to place bets on which one of us three is to have a baby first (my money’s on jamie).
