sweet Sweet dresses

We- three of my bridesmaids and I- ventured to Pearl Bridal House early Saturday morning for that aforementioned soiree. We were greeted by a plethora of bridesmaid dresses, mainly from Vineyard, Pricilla of Boston and Melissa Sweet. We went straight for the Melissa Sweets, and my, her dresses are so much more beautiful in person than in the already very beautiful print ads (as cliché as it might sound, pictures does it no justice). The dresses are very stylish and elegant and not bridesmaid-y at all.

The girls tried on a couple of silk chiffon dresses- the signature Melissa Sweet bridesmaid dresses seen in bridal magazines (and above)- and a few silk charmeuse dresses from the Fall 2008 collection (see below). I’m completely gaga over all the silk charmeuse ones and want one for myself.

It was a wonder how much personality can affect the look of the dress. Jamie tried on this halter number, which is slightly more feminine than her usual tomboyish self and she looked awful uncomfortable and even awkward in that dress. The she put on this simple black strapless and she looked ravishing!

My dear fourteen year old sister was the hardest to work with. She still has a baby face and most of the dresses looked too grown up on her. Plus, she’s awful modest and she didn’t like any of the v-neck dresses. The first dress she tried on, she kept her tank top on; Wins had to coax her out of it.

The Melissa Sweet dresses are $475 a piece which is a quite a bit more than what I want the girls spend to on even though the dress are totally wearable again and the girls are willing to spend that much. Well, not my sister; she’s currently saving for an ipod nano.
